Historical Living Nativity The village of San Damiano d'Asti evokes the nativity with a Living Crib

In the suggestive historic cellars of the town a procession of travellers will accompany visitors to discover the re-enactment of the nativity.
Along the streets you can meet carpenters, blacksmiths, fishermen, laundresses, spinners, shepherds with their flocks, bakers, censors, centurions and priests, crossing about thirty different settings, including inns and places of refreshment.
The underground part of the church of the Doctrinal Fathers will be opened specifically for the occasion, to admire its spectacular vaulted ceilings, the tuff niches, the ancient well, the ice house and the setting up of tableaux vivants drawn from the Jewish tradition. A representation that over the years has earned a prominent place among the cribs of Piedmont.
In fact, hundreds of figures in characteristic period costumes recall the ancient crafts, supported by the characteristic music of the bagpipers. According to tradition, the coin of the living nativity scene of San Damiano will be forged, thanks to the skilled hands of the coiner and a custom parchment will be made at the censor in memory of the census of Caesar Augustus.
