The village of Govone
Govone is the place where the Magical Christmas village is born.
It’s a village in the province of Cuneo, just over 2000 inhabitants, halfway between Asti and Roero and 60 km from Turin. It is located in the Roero geographical area, it’s a site that seems to be inhabited since Roman epoch. In the beginning it was an episcopal feud and it became Solaro’s property, a family from Asti. Later the castle became Savoia’s summer residence. It received important names that live their life or just a period such as: Carolina Invernizio (she lived in the historical centre) and Jean Jacque Rousseau that, just over eighteen, stayed in the castle.
Among the most precious treasures of the territory, Govone has especially the suggestive castle, which belongs to sabaude Residence, included in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
